Star Trek: Of Gods and Men

In celebration of 40 years of Star Trek, "Great Bird of the Galaxy Productions" has brought together Trek fans, Hollywood film professionals, and some well known faces from the Trek franchise to create an impressive three-part mini-series. The project has been described as a 40th anniversary gift from the Star Trek actors to their fans.

Walter Koenig, Nichelle Nichols, Grace Lee Whitney, and Tim Tuss reprise their roles as Chekov, Uhura, Janice Rand, and Tuvok, respectively (with Tim Russ also directing the series). Alan Ruck (Ferris Bueller's friend and captain of the Enterprise B in Star Trek: Generations), Garrett Wang (Harry Kim from Star Trek: Voyager), Gary Graham (Vulcan Ambassador Soval from Star Trek: Enterprise), JG Hertzler (Martok from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine), and Chase Masterson (Leeta from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine) all make appearances as well as many other Trek alumni.

CBS Paramount Television have given this and other fan projects a lot of freedom in using the characters and designs from the Trek universe as long as the works remain non-profit. The creators of this production have unfortunately missed their intended release dates (April, May and June 2007) but the first three minutes of act I are available on their site. If you're a Trek fan, check them out!

Trivia: The Great Bird of the Galaxy was the affectionate nickname given to Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry by Star Trek fans. It's a reference to a mythical creature mentioned in the first televised episode of the original series, "The Man Trap".
